Poems A-Z Victory

Victory’s the benchmark that says the war is won

The final great fulfillment, when fighting days are done

Victory’s the trophy, lifted up and held so high

At the end of the long struggle, where grown men often cry

Victory’s the promise, that peace can now be real

Achievement has been gained, that compromise can’t steal

Victory in the race, says you have finished first

At last a quenching drink, for competition’s thirst

Victory in our lives, is struggle not in vain

But it often comes behind, the hard work and the pain

Victory is not just, the lack of some defeat

Victory’s the final prize…when failure’s soundly beat
