Week #33 Real Men

12/10/2017

Great men are known
Are known by their work
When the going gets tough
They aren’t known to shirk

You can take their words
Take them to the bank
It’s not the bars on their chest
That gives them their rank

Towers of strength
With foundation of stone
Character lived and
Character shown

Kindness in the eye
Firmness in the walk
Strength in the grip
And truth in the talk

It’s always about you
Seldom about them
Off on an adventure
At the drop of a whim

The great men are made
But not made by self
Worth is not determined
By some plaque on the shelf

Their worth is given
By the one up above
The one who is mighty
Yet meek as a dove

I have known some great men
Some great men in my day
Who work for their respect
Who earn their day’s pay

They leave a trail of faith
Of courage and good will
Real men among us…
Who walk that trail still
