                                         Hope

Hope is not really hope till it’s tested
and I’m wondering why it’s that way?
Must we always experience the darkness
well before the next dawning of day?

Morning breaks at the close of a long night
peace will come at the end of the fight
Springtime blooms after long winter slumber
hope will dawn with the mornings first light

New life comes after toiling and labor
war is waged on the threat that lies near.
God has given us two hands to battle...
and to hold everything we count dear

Autumn comes and the leaves all fall downward
barren branches look dead and forlorn.
All it takes is the first ray of springtime
for the blossoms the branch to adorn

                   David Kettler

This was actually written as a song and I have a melody that goes with it. I can’t remember when I wrote it…I think around 10 years ago. Well before the word hope was hijacked as a meaningless political slogan. True Hope is not based in the government of our land, to me it is based in the government of a much higher source!
